Rose Quartz

The name quartz comes from the Greek derivative krustallos, meaning ice, as it was thought that quartz was actually ice formed by the Gods.

The universal stone of Quartz presents in a soft and lovely shade of pink called Rose Quartz. Very pale in color, transparent varieties are not as abundant, as they are usually so pale that they show no color at all except in very large specimens.

According to archaeological records Rose Quartz was used as early as the 800-600 B.C. by the Assyrians. Later it became popular with the Greeks & Romans

Rose quartz: Strong pink, pale pink. Coloring agent is titanium. Traces of included rutile needles cause six-rayed stars when cut en cabochon. Larger clear stones can be faceted. Rose quartz crystals tend to be cloudy, which deepens the color. Transparent crystals are extremely rare.
